The HBAA Freshwater Section
Rules & By-Laws (Subject to committee approval and/or ammendment
1. Any member found infringing any of the following rules, or jeopardizing appropriate fishing rights will be dealt with by the committee and may face expulsion.
2. All anglers must hold a current EA rod licence where appropriate and observe all Environment Agency regulations.
3. All members must be in possession of a Day Ticket at all times when fishing. Anyone without may be ejected from the water.
4. Members must cause no damage, deposit no litter, nor light fires, and are expected to prevent such behaviour in others.
ANYONE found leaving LITTER, INCLUDING cigarette ends, line, hooks, shot etc after leaving their peg may be banned
from the freshwater section for LIFE.
5. No watercraft without the permission of the water or committee.
6. No swimming will be allowed.
7. Anglers must not overcrowd their keep nets (which must be a minimum of 10” in length with a diameter of 18” and must be
made of a knot less material). Anglers must ensure the well being of the catch at all times. All current notices regarding net
bans at fisheries must be observed.
8. All nets must be fully dry prior to commencement of fishing, or dipped in the appropriate disinfectant bin at the fishery.
9. Inspection of nets and/or their contents by any member at any time is permissible upon production of a membership or
bailiff card, where a valid reason exists.
10. Members must adopt a responsible attitude to members of the public and other water users, and to endeavour to avoid injury
to anyone in any way.

12. All course fish must be returned to the water at the end of each fishing session except where an individual waters rules state
differently.
13. Unhooking mats must be used at all times for specimen fish.
14. All members must be in possession of an appropriate disgorger and/or forceps for unhooking.
15. Photo’s should be taken quickly of specimen fish or sessions catch and returned to the water as soon as possible.
16. Any fish that show signs of disease or harm must be reported to the Chairman/Secretary immediately.
17. No radio’s except personal stereo's, Ipods etc.
18. An adequate landing net made of knot less material must be available and used whenever the size of fish dictates its use.
The swinging in of any fish is to be avoided where practical.
19. All cars to be parked in the appropriate car park where possible.
20. Any events may be terminated at any time if the appropriate fishery or committee deems necessary.
21. Live-Bait or Dead-Bait may only be used by permission of the fishery owner or committee.
22. No rigs should consist of more than one hook unless Pike fishing, in which case a maximum of two treble hooks may be used.
23. When Pike fishing, a minimum breaking strain trace of 20 lb must be used.
24. No Carp over 2 lb should be retained unless an acknowledged Carp friendly keep net or Carp sack is used. (The committee
recommend that NO Carp over 10 lb are retained at all).
25. At the end of any fishing session, unused bait must not be discarded into the water but disposed of in the appropriate manner.
26. Rods must not be left unattended at any time whilst fishing.
